CCS seeks to expand our internal capacity in a mix of analytical, facilitative, and management functions through the recruitment of a mid-career professional with significant experience in some combination of energy systems modeling, agency and/or stakeholder engagement, greenhouse gas emissions analysis, and related mitigation/adaptation planning.  We seek someone whose experience level allows him/her to manage staff and projects.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Complete/support modeling and analysis tasks relating to the development of sector- and sub-sector-level baselines.  This involves development of inventories and forecasts of energy use, emissions, and energy and materials consumption and production; measurement and evaluation of changes that can be expected from emissions-reduction strategies; measurement and evaluation of associated economic and financial costs and benefits
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of in-house models and modeling systems used to support mitigation & adaptation planning
  • Engage with contractors, clients, funders and partners on behalf of CCS, including technical work groups
  • Coordinate within and across teams and manage junior staff to meet project needs
  • Participate effectively in advancement of program development efforts

The successful candidate will likely have between 5 and 15 years of experience in the field.  Particular consideration will be given to the following experience:

  • Utilizing energy systems modeling tools such as LEAP, NEMS, NEEDS, Times/MARKAL, etc.
  • Managing small teams independently on projects, assigning work, managing budgets, and leading external communication
  • Working on efforts directly related to greenhouse gas policy in the energy/energy-efficiency sector – including work on the Clean Power Plan, national or subnational inventories and forecasts, and/or cap-and-trade mechanisms
  • Working with agencies, stakeholders, or partners to jointly design/evaluate policies and projects
  • Contributing to development or enhancement of systems models and analysis approaches
  • Having conducted project- and policy-level cost and revenue assessments of climate policies

The position will be open until filled.  Compensation will vary depending on experience and qualifications.
