Energy Policy and Strategy Consultant (Full-Time)

Location: Solihull town centre, West Midlands

Closing Date: 24 July 2015

Package: Competitive + benefits and 23 days annual leave

Interested in shaping the sustainable energy policy agenda?

Ambitious to work directly with energy industry leaders and policy makers?

The Company:

Ecuity Consulting LLP is a growing, highly focused consultancy specialising in strategy, regulation, policy and politics affecting the sustainable energy sector. We specialise in helping our clients to achieve tangible and meaningful changes in regulation and policy that will make a real difference to the uptake of sustainable energy.

We are currently recruiting for an Energy Policy and Strategy Consultant, providing the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of commercial strategy, policy and political activity related to sustainable energy.

The position may also involve work for one of our key clients, the Sustainable Energy Association, a trade body representing the small scale sustainable energy sector.

The Role:

The successful candidate, who will report directly to one of the company Partners, will be responsible for managing some of Ecuity’s leading client accounts. This role has significant autonomy and for the right individual it is a substantial opportunity for exposure and personal growth working with senior industry leaders and Government representatives.

Principal duties will include:

  • Project managing key client accounts and implementing complex individual projects
  • Designing and implementing engagement strategies to influence the development of regulation and policy
  • Researching and developing policy and commercial strategy analysis for clients and government
  • Identifying and supporting business development opportunities and contributing to pitch meetings
  • Acting as an ambassador for Ecuity, often by participating and speaking at industry events
  • Mentoring less experienced members of staff as appropriate

Person Requirements:

  1. Background – Educated to degree level with proven ability working effectively in a fast paced policy, public affairs or business consulting environment for at least two years.
  2. Excellent writing ability – our clients rely on us to convert complex issues into easily understood analysis.
  3. A highly articulate, confident and effective communicator – you will be expected to lead and present at meetings with Board Level Executives from multinational organisations and share speaking platforms with politicians and Government officials.
  4. An analytical approach to problem solving – whilst extensive knowledge of sustainable energy policy and strategy is not required, argument building, numerical ability and an analytical mindset are key.
  5. Highly organised and flexible – you will be responsible for managing competing priorities as well as working in small flexible teams.
  6. An adept networker – with proven ability to build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships including demonstrable networking and negotiation skills.
