Description
Energy Efficiency Project Manager
EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group and is one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in France, the UK, Germany and Italy. In the UK we have approximately 15,000 employees. We are the UK’s leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation’s electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We intend to play a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK and secure a ‘bright’ future for the combined business and its employees.
Energy Sourcing & Customer Supply (ESCS) is the public face of EDF Energy. We generate and sell electricity and gas to over 5.5 million residential and business customers, making us the largest supplier of electricity by volume. We also run customer facing activities including field sales and meter reading services. Our approach to ESCS is driven by our sustainability agenda, which means we behave as a socially and environmentally responsible company. We are the largest business unit within EDF Energy with over 8,000 employees spread across 50 locations and are organised into seven key areas: Upstream, Optimisation, B2B, B2C, Finance, HR & Safety and Transformation. Working in a competitive marketplace means we need high performing people who have the skills, experience, systems knowledge and leadership abilities to help us stay ahead of our competitors.
The Energy Efficiency Project Manager is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and management of the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) schemes that are required to achieve our energy saving target set by DECC and administered by Ofgem. The CERT and CESP targets are being delivered to the approved strategy and all CERT and CESP products and propositions must be consistent with Energy Field Services business plans.
The CERT/CESP sets targets on energy suppliers to achieve improvements in energy efficiency by providing energy efficiency measures to households across Great Britain. Reporting in the first instance to the CERT or CESP Delivery Manager, the Energy Efficiency Project Manager role is key to the delivery of our CERT/CESP targets. They will be responsible for supporting the scheme design, implementation and management to internal and external (Ofgem) governance procedures and policies. They will maximise brand value and PR opportunities, whilst effectively managing and maintaining service levels of our suppliers/partners. There will be a key requirement to work collaboratively across the organisation to specify how CERT and CESP products are communicated and delivered to customers so as to enhance the customer experience and to provide competitive differentiation from an operational and commercial perspective. Therefore as the need arises there may be scope for movement between CERT and CESP teams on a Delivery or Commercial basis. The person appointed will be customer focused, commercially aware and will have strong process knowledge. They must have good communication skills and must be a strong team player. Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements/programme is required plus experience of working in a retail business environment. Emphasis will also be placed on financial and analytical skills that will be necessary to ensure robust evaluation and appraisal of customer products and services, either in the market, post implementation, or in design. A flexible approach is a necessity, with a willingness to travel to visit other EDF Energy sites and supplier/ partners on a regular basis throughout the UK.
