The position requires an experienced individual with excellent client management and project management skills to work as part of our expanding Planning & Environmental Group based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role requires the individual to work as a project manager, overseeing the planning and EIA elements of proposed renewable energy developments throughout the UK. The individual will be responsible for taking proposed developments from a site finding or early feasibility stage and managing the environmental assessments, planning process and associated stakeholder engagement, in order to deliver high quality planning applications.

The individual needs to be commercially focused with strong communication skills. The role involves working closely with senior staff within the wider Planning & Environmental team to expand our client base in the energy sector and assisting in development of new opportunities in the wider market that build on the team’s current expertise and experience.

The position specifically involves the following:

  • Project management of individual Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and non-EIA projects;
  • Environmental Statement and report writing;
  • Client management and liaison;
  • Business development and proposal writing; and
  • Sharing environmental expertise and knowledge and working closely with other members of the team.

The following are essential for the role:

  • Experience of site searching and feasibility studies;
  • Industry knowledge and experience of working within the energy sector;
  • Good understanding of legislation and published guidance relating to the energy and environmental sectors;
  • Experience in undertaking EIAs;
  • Experience in submitting planning applications and providing post-submission support;
  • Relevant professional membership; and
  • Relevant academic qualifications to at least degree level in an environmental discipline.
