POSITION: 
Manager - Energy Efficiency Industry Growth, Corporate Relations, Services and Projects / Policy

 

LOCATION:Energy Efficiency Council (EEC)

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive

COMPANY PROFILE: 
The Energy Efficiency Council is a not-for-profit organization that represents organisations that work in energy efficiency, cogeneration and demand-management. The Council aims to make Australia more energy efficient by increasing the demand for energy efficiency and ensuring that energy efficiency services and products are high quality.

The Energy Efficiency Council is a respected voice in energy policy, and played a critical role in recent reforms to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Council is seeking a new addition to the team to work closely with members to develop the Council's services. The Manager for Energy Efficiency Industry Growth, Corporate Relations and Services would have the following responsibilities:

- Acting as the main point of contact for members and potential members and responding to their requests
- Developing and implementing a package of services that the Council delivers to members, including events, promotions and products
- Developing the membership strategy to grow the membership base of the Council 
- Designing the content for events for members and energy-users, which could include sessions on policy, technology or networking and promotions. 
- Leading the communications work for the Council, which could include: 

o Working with consultants to upgrade the Council's branding, communications strategy, website and printed materials
o Drafting the Council newsletter, social media and other communications

- Managing projects to support the growth of the industry. Depending on the skill-set of the candidate, this would involve project management, policy work and/or industry analysis (e.g. analysing the size of the energy efficiency market)

Depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate, the role could be expanded into a more senior strategic role. The Council is seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills, interest in sustainability and experience in an industry association, the energy sector or energy policy. Experience in events and/or communications is highly desirable but not essential.

Depending on the skills and experience of the candidate, the role could be offered as a three year position or 6-month contract. The role is either full-time or four days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic work and implementation to support EEC members and grow membership

- Act as the main point of contact for members and prospective members
- Work with members and the CEO to develop a comprehensive suite of services that the Council delivers to members, including events, marketing and products
- Undertake rapid research on a diverse range of topics to develop and deliver services
- Mange complex relations with diverse stakeholders, including members, governments and other non-profit organisations 
- Secure new members by developing and implementing a membership strategy. This would include updating the database of prospective members, developing relationships with prospective members and setting up meetings with prospective members and the Council's staff and board

Organise and deliver events and conferences with stakeholders: 
- Work with members to develop the content (topics and speakers), budget, sponsorship packages and invite lists for a range of events that deliver value to members and/or promote the aims of the Council, including:

o Half-day member forums at least four times per year
o Forums and exhibitions for energy users
o The Council's national conference, which attracts around 200-300 delegates

Lead the Energy Efficiency Council's communication strategy
- Prepare and drive the implementation of a communication plan for the EEC for members and external stakeholders. This could involve:

o Managing the rebranding of the Council
o Engaging with consultants to develop a communications plan
o Engaging with web-developers and graphic designers to upgrade the website and communication templates
o Writing regular newsletters for members and non-members
o Updating the website content and social media

- Perform a feasibility study on the development of flagship publication for the Australian energy efficiency industry
- Work with designers & communication experts to produce brochures etc 
- Work with the CEO and media to promote key concepts through media channels

Contribute to project work OR policy analysis and development
- Depending on the candidates skill set, the candidate would be expected to undertake work with members, energy users, governments and other non-profit organisations on either policy and/or projects. Some examples of this could be:

• For a candidate with strong project management or industry body experience: working on a number of projects, such as estimating the size of the energy efficiency sector.

• For a candidate with strong policy experience: working on policy, which would involve consulting with members and experts and policy, drafting submissions and represent the council in forums with government officials and stakeholders

Undertake other tasks as reasonably requested.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS 
- CEO, board members, Council members, governments, other organisations 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

1. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with participants at all levels of the Australian energy industry

2. Experience in one or more the following:
a. An industry body; and/or
b. The energy sector, ideally in clean energy or energy efficiency; and/or
c. Energy policy

3. Sound analytical and strategic thinking, with an ability of to analyse market information to produce succinct analysis briefs and strategies

4. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills (including using Word and Powerpoint) with experience in writing communications materials

5. Experience in project management and planning and managing work programs of diverse nature with effective engagement of relevant stakeholders

6. Self-motivated and extremely well organized

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE 
- Experience in designing and delivering events
- Experience in online content, social media and/or design
- Experience with industry groups or non-profit organisations 
- Experience in policy or government
- Experience in energy efficiency technology

The interview process will also assess the following behavioural competencies. However, you do not need to specifically address these criteria in your application:

KEY EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS 
- Full-time or four days per week. The position can be negotiated as a short-term or long-term contract.
- $70,000 to $85,000 per annum including super, can be negotiated higher
- Interstate travel and some out-of-hours work will be required
