Education, outreach and admin Intern

We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive intern to assist with the education and outreach program at St Eustatius National Parks Foundation for 3 months.

The organization carries out monthly nature lessons in schools, runs 4 after school programs each year and organizes workshops and events throughout the year to bring the work of the National Parks foundation to local residents and beyond.

The role would involve working directly with children in the afterschool program so experience with kids is essential. It would also involve preparation for lessons, assistance with summer club activities (2 week summer vacation club) and any event preparation/promotion needed during the internship. Occasional weekend work would be required for events – time would be given back in lieu.

The intern would also need to be able to assist with office administration, meeting, greeting, advising tourists and locals in the visitor centre and handling money from transactions. Some mornings each week will be dedicated to assisting with park work on the hiking trails and at the botanical gardens so a reasonable level of physical fitness and ability/willingness to work outside in the Caribbean sun is required.

A background, or education, in nature conservation or ecology is an advantage but great people skills, customer service, creative thinking and positivity are essential personal skills for this internship.

This is an unpaid internship. Accommodation is provided at $250 per month in a house in town which is shared with other interns. Utilities including wifi internet and cable TV are covered in the monthly rent, all other expenses and travel costs are Intern’s own.
