Job title: Ecology Consultant

Location: Preston / Cambridge

Rate: £25- £27.5k

Job Summary:

A leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for ecologists to join the Preston and Cambridge teams. As a project ecologist you will have the opportunity to manage and deliver ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focused commercial environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ecologist with experience of working on utilities projects, and on railway tracksides, to join a friendly and supportive environmental team.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

In addition to undertaking ecological field surveys, project management and technical delivery, you will also have the opportunity to undertake sales and business development under the guidance of more senior team members. This could include drafting quotes to assist with tenders or identifying target clients and undertaking client meetings.

Qualifications / Experience:

Successful candidates will have;

  • First Degree
  • Evidence of actively working towards Full IEEM membership
  • Experience of undertaking a wide range of ecological surveys including extended Phase 1, Ecocheck surveys, ECoW and protected species surveys
  • A good track record of attending meetings and liaising with clients and statutory bodies
  • Experience of authoring ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Experience of working on utilities projects, and on railway tracksides with relevant certification e.g. PTS, IWA
  • Full driving licence

This role will require flexible working with regard to type of work, time and location, potentially including weekend working. Candidates should be available for interview on Thursday 7th March 2013.
