Description

Waterman Energy, Environment & Design, a leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy is looking for senior level ecologists to join their Manchester/Leeds and Glasgow teams.

Candidates will be degree qualified ecologists with at least 5+ years relevant consultancy experience in the UK. Candidates will possess and be able to demonstrate:

• a detailed knowledge of conservation legislation in the UK

• full membership of CIEEM

• experience of coordinating and undertaking ‘Extended’ Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

• experience of coordinating and undertaking protected species and habitat surveys (the ability to undertake summer and winter bird surveys will be an advantage)

• hold at least one class survey licence for a European protected species (a bat licence will be an advantage) and have held development licences for protected species within the last 3 years

• Excellent report writing skills for Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Reporting, CfSH and BREEAM Assessments

• a good understanding of the EIA process and have experience in undertaking ES chapters

• the ability to engage in the scheme design process detailing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures

• the ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team, with excellent all round oral and written communication skills,

• Experience in preparing fee proposals and taking part in fee negotiations 

• Experience and track record of working in the commercial arena

• Identifying and maximising opportunities for future work through exemplary reputation, active business development, networking and the nurturing of existing professional relationships.

• The ability to develop strong relationships with clients and key influencers in order to encourage repeat and new business.

• Experience in managing ecology survey teams

• Experience in mentoring and training junior team members

• Excellent financial and project management skills.

• hold a full UK driving licence.
