Job Summary:

 

Our client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy, looking to expand their Hampshire based ecology team through the appointment of an Assistant, Senior and Principal Ecologist.

 

With an exciting array of project work on the horizon, the selected candidates will be joining a friendly and successful team in an exciting period of growth.  This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a range of high profile projects, including residential, mixed-use developments, new road schemes and solar farms. 

 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

 

The Assistant Ecologist will:

  • Carry out survey and mitigation works relating to protected species.
  • Undertake office-based work including report writing, mapping and preparation of proposals. 
  • Take part in ecological Clerk of Works and Watching Brief roles on construction contracts.

 

The Senior Ecologists will;

  • Manage large and exciting projects including residential, mixed-use developments, new road schemes and solar farms. 
  • Serve a diverse client base, attend project meetings and public consultations and engage with stakeholders
  • Provide support, advice and training to other team members.

 

In addition to the above responsibilities, the Principal Ecologists will also play a key role in helping the established team develop the regional ecological business.

 

Qualifications / Experience:

 

The Assistant Ecologist will have:

  • A relevant degree.
  • Excellent field skills across a range of taxa and ideally 1 EPS licence
  • A sound knowledge of UK and European legislation and policy.
  • A full driving licence.

 

The Senior Ecologist will have;

  • At least 2 EPS licences and a track record of undertaking protected species mitigation (including licensing) and EcIA
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant UK and EU legislation, policy and guidance
  • Demonstrable project and team management experience.

 

The Principal Ecologist will also have;

  • Demonstrable experience of winning work and managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • A track record of undertaking a client facing role including attendance at client meetings.

 

Candidates with experience within the fields of ornithology, entomology and botany will be well regarded for these posts.
