Job Summary:

 

Following sustained growth within their company, our award winning consultancy client is looking to appoint an Ecologist in their Reading or Bristol teams.

 

As part of the collaborative UK Ecology team, you will be providing advice in connection with infrastructure developments.  Your workload will be varied and will include producing protected species assessments, mitigation and site restoration advice for clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your ecological consultancy career, gaining exposure to some of the UKs most exciting infrastructure projects.

 

Responsibilities:

As an Ecologist you will:

  • Undertake site assessment, desk study and report writing
  • Assist other project team members, subcontractors and staff in surveys for a wide range of species
  • Provide support for Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat Regulations Assessments
  • Liaise with colleagues, contractors and clients to ensure effective project delivery.

 

 

Qualifications:

 As an Ecologist you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Graduate or Assistant Ecologist in a consultancy role
  • A first degree in ecology/biological conservation (or similar) and preferably a Master’s degree
  • Experience of Phase 1 habitat surveys and some protected species survey capability
  • A protected species survey licence is desirable but not essential
  • Flexibility over travel and hours, especially during spring/summer survey season when there can be expected to be some requirement to be available to work in the evenings/early mornings and to be away from home
