Ecologist

We have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to join an established national ecology team, in our client’s Leeds office. The successful candidate will be working on a wide range of projects, and helping to develop the ecological business within the northern region.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

• Provide ecological support for a range of medium and large-scale projects
• Provide ecological input and advice for all types of projects, including EcIAs, Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) and Habitat Management and Restoration Programmes
• Plan and undertake specialist fieldwork, including habitat (extended Phase 1, NVC etc.) and protected species surveys
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, fee proposals and tenders

Qualifications / Experience:

• Degree educated or similar qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Ecology)
• Chartered or working towards chartership (CIEEM)
• Experience in preparation of technical input to EcIAs and appreciation of reporting process
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance
• Demonstrable expertise in a specialist area of ecology (e.g. bats) is desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
