The EcoHouse in Leicester was Britain’s first environmental showhome when it opened in 1989 Since then it has had many people through its doors giving advice and solutions to individuals, communities, schools and businesses wanting to improve their environmental credentials. In an increasingly crowded market, there is still a need for well informed impartial advice and the ability to see technology and solutions in action. Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire are looking for two officers to continue this pedigree of environmental expertise along with our strong community focus and to bring greater financial security to the EcoHouse through effective marketing and business links along with managing its visitor attraction and café and shop facilities. Are you our ideal candidate? Have you been searching for that opportunity to mix your environmental knowledge and passion with your skills at running a small community café? Or are you someone who has great business liaison skills but wishes to use them to environmental, charitable and community ends? If so, this might be for you! We are seeking applicants for two positions. One focused on consolidating our visitor attraction, café and shop business. We want to increase our offer in this area to bring greater financial security whilst keeping the environmental and community emphasis. The second position will be focused on developing our links with local business to offer the EcoHouse as a venue for hire, for meetings or just somewhere for employees to use. This position will also work towards a greater events programme. There will be significant cross over where applicable and both positions will run the EcoHouse day to day. We think that offering communities a small café and environmental hub can sit alongside a financially viable business.
