The INTASAVE Partnership and CARIBSAVE are seeking an experienced and self-motivated individual for the position of East Africa Regional Coordinator, initially for a two-year term (open to renewal for the right candidate).  The EARC will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), managing and coordinating a growing number of projects in the East Africa region relating to innovative climate change solutions and sustainable international development. The other duties of the position are:

 

  • Managing the East Africa operations of INTASAVE, including budgets, personnel and necessary administration

  • Leading on South-South knowledge exchange and development initiatives involving Africa

  • Expanding the work of INTASAVE across the region and working together with the global philanthropy team and the CEO to achieve this

  • Identifying and assessing opportunities for new projects and initiatives

  • Approaching potential partners, funders and relevant parties, to maximise the impact of INTASAVE’s reach and work

  • Promoting INTASAVE and its work in Africa and overseas

  • Other duties as designated by the CEO from time to time

Essential selection criteria is as follows:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject with strong focus on climate change OR/AND the equivalent in terms of experience and seniority

  • Knowledge and experience of sustainable development issues, climate compatible development and renewable energy;

  • Experience of and proven expertise working at a senior level, with demonstrable results

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of South-South education and exchange, including methodologies and practices

  • Extensive networks across East Africa, including government, international donors and the climate related sector

  • Extensive experience in relevant sectors across East Africa

  • Proven ability and understanding of project management, implementation and monitoring, with practical experience with communities across East Africa

  • Practical experience and understanding of semi-arid and arid regions, including challenges faced in terms of climate adaptation and mitigation

  • Experience of writing complex documents for consumption by both technical and non-technical users;

  • Experience working for a global organisation with international standards and expectations, in relation to delivery, implementation and performance
