AWF’s Philanthropy and Marketing department is located in our Washington, DC office and supports our Nairobi, Kenya based headquarters and field operations located in an additional 13 African nations. The department is tasked with mobilizing sufficient private resources toward achieving our important mission of working with the people of Africa to ensure that Africa's wildlife and wild lands endure forever. The Director of Philanthropy oversees management of a dynamic team of experienced Major Gift Officers who fund-raise from AWF's global donor base . Reporting to the VP of Philanthropy and Marketing, the Director would manage the day-to-day workings of the major gifts team, and provide strategic counsel to the VP and CEO on matters relating to major donor fundraising and planned giving. The Director would be the team lead to assist in identifying and securing high dollar philanthropy gifts, and therefore will be in regular contact with AWF’s donor base and trustees.
