Working with Program leadership in Audubon’s national divisions of Public Policy, Science, Education and International Alliances, the Development Director will lead the effort to raise annual operating funds for core conservation programs. Working with core conservation team leaders, the Director will build an integrated case for support for the core conservation program activities and help identify and secure a diversified portfolio of funders for core conservation programs. Example’s of work include: Audubon’s work on global warming issues, identifying and protecting Important Birds Areas throughout the hemisphere, and our network of education programs and urban based Audubon Centers to reach out to new constituencies nationwide.

This is a fund raising role that requires extensive strategy and contact with major gift officers, corporate and foundations staff and occasionally prospects capable of making five and six figure annual operating gifts. The successful candidate must have an appreciation and understanding of Moves Management, donor motivations, and have a personal commitment to protecting and preserving nature and biodiversity. Success in this position requires an individual who can integrate themselves into a team that creates and maintains a collaborative atmosphere among a broad range of program leaders and actively engages them in the fund raising process.

As a member of the strategic gifts teams, he/she will be responsible for ensuring that operating revenue for the core conservation programs is raised on an annual basis. Strong grant writing skills are required.
