Description

Purpose and scope of the role:

Responsible for delivering a diverse range of innovation programmes and services to accelerate low carbon technologies and sectors towards commercialisation via a team of ~15 experienced engineers and managers, and an outsourced team of ~ 100 engineers, technical specialists and project managers.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Lead the development and delivery of the Innovations business plan focusing on maximising carbon savings, net revenue and technology commercialisation

Develop our service offering and delivery capability to better and more cost effectively meet customer needs and to accelerate progress on technology development and commercialisation

Lead the identification and development of new offers, markets and clients to build the impact and net revenues of the Innovation business

Manage and develop the Carbon Trust Innovation team and organisational capability

Define overall vision and development plan for Innovations business going forward

Support other parts of the Carbon Trust portfolio to maximise the Group’s mission impact and commercial revenues

Establish and build collaborative working relationships with key government officials and the Low Carbon Innovation Coordination Group

Maximise value for money of government funding deployed via Carbon Trust Innovation and leverage in third party

Maximise impact and CT net revenue from existing and new commercial clients

Assist in raising awareness of the Carbon Trust and the benefits of low carbon innovation and act as a Carbon Trust spokesperson to the media and externally

Qualifications and experience:

Considerable technical and general management experience at either a engineering, technology or a high-end engineering consultancy organisation 

First class degree ideally in a science/engineering discipline


Higher degree / post grad qualification desirable 

Experience of the commercialisation of low carbon technologies would be a distinct advantage
