Director, Energy Compliance

Scope of Position

?The Director, Energy Compliance, is responsible for managing and further developing regulatory compliance efforts and compliance training programs for energy market compliance such as NERC, FERC, and ISO.  While leading EDF Renewable Energy’s compliance efforts, the Director will routinely interact with legal, accounting, information technology, risk management, and operations & maintenance personnel.

Working Conditions

?75% of the time will be spent in the office, and the remaining 25% of the time will be spent traveling to project sites and the offsite control center, conducting training, attending relevant meetings, and working to maintain the culture of compliance throughout the company.

Responsibilities

?• The implementation and supervision of Internal Controls is under the responsibility of every manager within his/her scope of authority.

• Further develop NERC compliance procedures for all North American properties, including EDF RE operations control center (“OCC”). • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure identify and resolve issues related to government compliance and regulatory requirements. • Interact with regulatory bodies for regulatory compliance issues including but not limited to reporting requirements, audit requirements, and applicable information requests audits, notices of non-compliance as well as coordinate requests for information associated with compliance requirements by the various entities. • Communicate regulatory requirements and pending requirements to affected personnel, and manage and further develop compliance communication program. • Implement CIPs programs and practices required for the OCC. • Oversee training program for personnel and establish security standards for all relevant facilities. • Monitor and submit periodic reports on cyber and operational compliance. • Respond to audit requests from the appropriate government agencies, should they occur. • Prepare and submit all FERC, NERC, and ISO-related reports. • Participate in design and review of cyber, communications, and monitoring systems required for new projects and upgrades to existing projects if required for compliance. • Develop a compliant culture within EDF RE and its affiliates. • Oversee team of 2-4 compliance administrators and specialists. • Other duties as assigned by Vice President, Generation and/or designee.

Qualifications

?• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

• 10+ years’ professional experience, preferably in the energy sector. • Recognized compliance subject matter expert with in depth knowledge of effective compliance programs, including best practices, standards of conduct, auditing, monitoring, and procedures for reporting of violations. • Thorough knowledge of industry rules and regulations at the federal (FERC and NERC) and state levels. • Comprehensive knowledge of industry communications equipment and protocols related to monitoring and scheduling. • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact, report and present to senior management. • Proven ability to identify key risk areas, analyze operations procedures and communicate requirements in order to manage and further develop EDF Renewable Energy’s compliance communication program.
