The Clean Economy Manufacturing Center (CEMC) is a flagship program of BGAF and is aimed at creating quality manufacturing jobs through investments in and development of clean energy technologies. The CEMC provides vital research into and disseminates information regarding the supply chain for renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as for healthy component products, and lends strategic and technical assistance to companies seeking to enter clean energy markets. 

Job Summary: BGAF is seeking a dynamic individual to direct its Clean Economy Manufacturing Center. This position will be responsible for leading a staff of five individuals in pursuit of the program’s core goals, which include advancing the creation of quality manufacturing jobs in the clean economy. This individual will lead a major initiative related to manufacturing, low income housing and energy efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a background in manufacturing, with a specific focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency, and have significant project management skills, as well as a background in project and organizational development. This is a senior level position that reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration and can be based in either Minneapolis, MN, or Washington, D.C.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements annual work plan, which includes creation of strategies to support and grow domestic manufacturing in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Leads the organization’s work to detail and further develop the supply chain for energy efficiency retrofits for multi-family affordable housing.
  • Works closely across the senior leadership staff to ensure full coordination of work.  
  • Serves a critical role in organizational fundraising and program development efforts, including strategizing on the expansion of the program, writing reports and briefing materials, and conducting meetings with current and potential funders.
  • Engages with partners and regional/national organizations to market and promote CEMC’s work and developing relationships and partnerships with these organizations.
  • Manages a team of 5 to develop work plans with clear metrics, evaluate progress, and ensuring a high quality work completed in a timely manner.
  • Leads presentations and workshops both in person and online.
  • Works closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic direction and priorities.
  • Manages project budgets and works closely with the Vice President of Finance and Administration to develop proposal budgets.
  • Collaborates across departments to conduct program, specifically working with the communications team to highlight CEMC’s work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience, with at least two years involving project management leadership.
  • Strong managerial skills and ability to lead and maintain productive working relationships remotely.
  • Expertise or understanding in the following fields: domestic manufacturing, renewable energy and energy efficiency supply chains.
  • Experience in working with a variety of public and private sector organizations, including labor unions and environmental organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starting, highly motivated, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and see discrete projects through to completion.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Strategic in developing key opportunities to help ensure goals are met and exceeded.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • A deep commitment to the mission of the BlueGreen Alliance Foundation.
