Deputy Section Head: Birds

We currently have a vacancy for a Deputy Section Head on the Birds and Tropical House section. The section manages our large bird collection and mixed species Tropical House. This is a key role which involves working on the section, covering all areas of animal husbandry, supervising and training staff, and deputising in the Section Head's absence.

We are seeking a high performing individual with a proven track record in zoo animal management. You will have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a zoo based bird keeper and demonstrate a substantial working knowledge of the natural history and management of birds. We are looking for an applicant with experience of incubation and rearing of birds. You must be committed to continued professional development of yourself and other staff. Supervisory experience as well as an animal-related qualification, such as the BIAZA approved ANCMZA or DZMAA, would be advantageous.

The role is full time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform, 31 days holiday, 5% employer's pension contribution.
