Deputy Section Head: Birds and Tropical

We currently have a vacancy for a Deputy Section Head on the Birds and Tropical section. The section manages a range of birds including hornbills, flamingos, penguins and parrots and a range of reptiles and small mammals. This is a key role which will involve working on the section, covering all areas of animal husbandry, supervising and training staff.

We are seeking a high performing individual with a proven track record in zoo animal management. You will have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a keeper and demonstrate a substantial working knowledge of the natural history and management of key species. You must be committed to continued professional development of yourself and other staff. Supervisory experience as well as an animal-related qualification, such as the BIAZA approved ANCMZA or DZMAA, would be advantageous.

The role is full time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform, 31 days holiday per annum, 5% employer's pension contribution (after qualifying period).
