Description

Deputy Environmental Manager

£Competitive + excellent benefits

Southampton

As a market-leading cruise company with big plans ahead, our ships are our world. That means they need to be truly magical places – and of course, environmentally sound too. As Deputy Environmental Manager, that will be your focus as you support our fleet and every team on board by gathering and clearly interpreting environmental performance metrics. An expert in your field, we’ll also look to you to train our environmental team, conduct ship visits to monitor performance and stand in for our Environmental Manager when needed. As the go-to person for all things environmental related, you’ll be on hand to answer any weird and wonderful questions regarding performance and legislation, too.

Things here don’t stand still for a moment. That means you’ll also enjoy supporting our R&D teams on emergent environmental technology, as well as investigating and documenting environmental incidents reported by our ships. As Deputy Environmental Manager, you’ll get involved in environmental sampling on all our vessels too, such as MBR performance, ash and silver sampling from photo waste. Plus of course, notifying ships on any resulting actions needed. Declaring the types and volumes of hazardous waste and supporting its management will form part of this, including working with waste-handling providers throughout the world to ensure that procedure is followed and recycling is maximised.

We’re looking for a Deputy Environmental Manager with an environmental qualification, degree or equivalent experience. Excellent verbal communication skills (in English) are just as key, as is experience in an environmental management, science or technology role – and ideally waste, risk and project management. IT literate (specifically MS Office) with strong presentation and planning skills, you’ll also be able to conduct audits, produce reports, plan action points and work flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.

If you’re driven and determined, develop your future as a Deputy Environmental Manager with a world-leading ship’s company that includes the prestigious P&O Cruises and Cunard Line brands.

N.B. Because our ships never sleep this Deputy Environmental Manager role involves sharing on call duties with the Environmental Team and travel to national/international meetings.
