Location: Cravens Peak Reserve, via Boulia QLD.
Hours and Conditions:  Full time 1.0FTE, Permanent, 5 weeks annual leave, on site housing and utilities.

The Field Officer will live on and work alongside the Reserve Manager to manage Cravens Peak Reserve, a 233,000 hectare property located 190 km west of Boulia, Queensland, and Ethabuka Reserve, a 215,500 hectare property located 1 hour drive south of Cravens Peak.  This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of autonomy, ingenuity and problem solving skills.

The position requires knowledge and experience of land management, and practical repair and maintenance skills.  Experience in land and conservation management problem solving are required, and working with Indigenous people in land management would be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities of role include:

  • Infrastructure development and maintenance – including fence, track, vehicles, small motors, water, infrastructure, building repairs and maintenance works.
  • Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities including fire management, establishment of monitoring points, weed, cattle and feral animal control.
  • Building relationships with neighbours to promote conservation practices in the broader landscape.
  • Assisting in the administration of maintenance schedules, monthly reporting and finance.
  • Visitor coordination including major donors, research teams, volunteers and staff.
