Description
The Science Development Coordinator assists fundraising activities for the Moore Center for Science and Oceans Division (MCSO), with a divisional goal to raise restricted funds from private foundations, corporations, individuals, and public funding agencies to support the division’s programs. S/He assists donor proposal development and incoming grant management, and assists staff with donor stewardship activities.
This position also assists the Senior Vice President and the Senior Director of Finance and Operations in developing and maintaining a fundraising strategy. S/He serves as a liaison with CI Development Division to incorporate Science priorities into CI’s institutional fundraising activities and represents the division on cross-divisional proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposal and Reporting Oversight
Assist MCSO fundraising efforts by researching institutional opportunities and working with staff to develop proposals to donors and ensure proper donor stewardship of existing donors.
MCSO Science Fundraising Liaison
Assist MCSO proposal development and reporting process and coordinate fundraising activities institutionally
Fundraising Policies, Procedures and Training
Coordinate internal processes for provide guidance to staff on CI internal policies.
MCSO Fundraising Strategy
Assist the Senior Vice President to develop and manage the multi-year/multi-million dollar fundraising strategy for incorporating science into Development Unit fundraising plans and raise restricted revenue for MCSO programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
2-4 years related work experience
Experience working with private and public sources of funding for conservation
Solid proposal writing experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to track and coordinate multiple projects
Solid computer skills, and experience with standard software packages, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Raiser’s Edge database
