Position Summary:

The Coordinator, External Communications will provide support to the Director, External Communication, including the coordination of campaigns and outreach efforts to seal-using businesses, coordination of key social media outreach channels, coordination of information and support to the European and Australian communications consultants and support for the coordination of media outreach and international media visits for European journalists and to UK audiences. She/he will help to produce marketing materials as well as providing logistical and administrative support to the Communications and Marketing team in the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities:

Communications and Marketing

  • Support the Director, External Communications, with projects related to external communications and stakeholder engagement across both media and marketing outreach;

  • Respond to UK company requests for marketing collateral and messaging, including coordinating messaging with the Traceability and Trademarks team;

  • Coordinate social media outreach to UK audiences with relation to content provision, audience growth and analytics;

  • Coordinate the Rainforest Alliance presence at events and trade shows in support of communications and marketing outreach strategy and lead on logistical elements;

  • Help provide management and administration of the UK Frog Blog and support content generation;

  • Lead on the logistical aspects of media trips for UK and European journalists in support of communications objectives;

  • Coordinate internal communications with regard to communications and marketing objectives, updates and opportunities across the London office and European staff and consultants;

  • Steer communications interns’ activities on a day-to-day basis under the supervision of the Senior Manager, External Communication.

 Administration

  • Assist the Director, External Communications and Senior Associate, Finance & Online Communities with budget management tasks, travel expense claims, contract management and processing of vendor invoices;
  • Assist the Director, External Communications with internal reporting against annual work plans and strategies;
  • Provide logistical support for departmental travel, to include booking flights, ground transportation, hotels and travel visas;
  • Assist any other global communications functions necessary under the direction of the Director, External Communications; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field required;

  • Minimum of 2 years of marketing and/or communications experience;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Excellent organizational and research skills and attention to detail;

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, graphic design programs, etc.);

  • Familiarity with biodiversity conservation issues a plus;

  • Proficiency in a second European language a plus;

  • Dependability, diplomacy and ability to work independently; and

  • Self-motivated, ability to juggle responsibilities, enthusiasm for the issue and a sense of humour.
