Formed of a partnership of nine organisations, the Marine CoLABoration was initiated by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2015 to increase the capacity of the environmental sector to communicate the role of the ocean in human wellbeing, culture and prosperity. The LAB takes a deliberately experimental approach to exploring the potential of a Values Based Approach to create an understanding of the value which is intrinsic to our seas. Our first live experiment is to increase the significance that Londoners place on the ocean through reducing and ultimately eliminating the use of single use plastic water bottles. The Marine Conservation Society will host a Coordinator who will effectively support the LAB’s cross-organisational communications, providing creative facilitation to ensure that partners are able to collaborate fruitfully in delivering exciting and innovative experiments which will create tangible change. The Coordinator will to support the LAB partners in a learning journey that will deeply embed an understanding and application of a Values Based Approach. The Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and administration of the LAB and, working closely with Forum for the Future, will support the development of the structure and organisation of learning and knowledge-management processes around the experiments.
Key Skills
• Knowledge and experience of working in marine and/or environmental conservation projects.
• A successful track-record of designing and delivering complex projects, products or experiments on time, within budget and able to demonstrate learning from project outcomes
• Outstanding and innovative communication skills, through written formats and/or face-to-face events - especially the ability to communicate complex ideas in a creative, articulate and confident way and to adapt language to varied audiences
• Highly organised, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain a detailed overview of all aspects of the project and the various external (LAB) partners
• Knowledge of current research around identifying and applying the full range of value and values frameworks
• The ability to develop and manage high-level relationships with funders and other partners.
