We have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to join an established national ecology team in our client’s Leicester office. You will be joining a committed and friendly team and work alongside experienced and talented consultants on high profile and exciting multidisciplinary projects.  Our client promotes internal progression and provides managerial as well as technical training to allow each ecologist to develop along a personalised career path.   As part of a prestigious multi-disciplinary team in the Midlands, you will work closely with other technical specialist such as Landscape Architects, EIA and Planning Consultants and Heritage experts to provide quality solutions for clients throughout the UK.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The Consultant Ecologist will;

  • Provide ecological support for a range of medium and large-scale projects including undertaking field surveys, producing maps and reporting
  • Provide ecological input and advice for a wide range of projects, including EcIAs, Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) ,Habitat Management and Restoration Programmes
  • Plan and undertake specialist fieldwork, including habitat (extended Phase 1, NVC etc.) and protected species surveys and translocations
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and highlight potential ecological constraints to senior team members
  • Contribute to fee proposals and tenders.

Qualifications / Experience:

To be successful in this role you will be;

  • Degree educated or similar qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Ecology)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (CIEEM)
  • Experienced in the  identification of solutions to ecological constraints
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance
  • At least 1 Class 1 EPS survey licence (GCN or Bats)
  • Demonstrable experience of mapping using ArcGIS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
