Conservation Education and Interpretation

Drawing upon cutting edge research, theory and practical experience, the course will be taught by experts from Durrell, University College London and University of Warwick, giving participants a firm grounding in how to deliver conservation education and interpretation.

Who is it for?

Anyone with an interest in raising awareness of environmental issues and communicating conservation messages.

What is the course content?

The course will include:
• Review of current theories in conservation education best practice
• Identifying appropriate messages and media to suit different audiences
• Discussion of potential role for new science communication techniques in conservation
• Opportunity to develop your own project ideas with support from course tutors

How will you benefit?

By the end of this course you will be able to design effective and engaging education and interpretation tailored to your audience.
The course will develop your skills in:
• signage design
• workshop planning for a variety of ages and demographics
• potential uses of online media
• critiquing education and interpretation activities

Optional extra day:
Saturday 19th October 1 day course: Evaluation data analysis run by Dr Eric Jensen, Warwick University £85 plus accommodation

Where will the course be run?

The course will be run at our headquarters in Jersey.

How much will it cost?

Course fee: £400 (£320 with early booking discount, booked before 20th September 2013)
Accommodation at wildlife park: £35 per night, special full-board rate.
