14/10/13 - 18/10/13 The Conservation Breeding and Husbandry of Callitrichids and Lemurs is a five day intensive course designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to successfully manage and breed primates, particularly callitrichids and lemurs, in captivity. Who is it for? The course is targeted at curators, keepers and veterinarians from zoos and other institutions (e.g. universities) involved in the captive management of primates
What is the course content? The course will cover the following topics:
Who will lead the course? The course will be run by Durrell Conservation Academy in conjunction with Durrell's mammal and veterinary departments. Course faculty will include visiting experts in lemur and callitrichid husbandry and conservation. Confirmed guest lecturers include behavioural expert Dr Gustl Anzenberger (Zurich).
Durrell maintains a large and varied collection of these species and has decades of experience in their captive management and in-situ conservation. By working alongside Durrell's experts you will gain invaluable knowldge and establish a network of contacts working in primate conservation and husbandry. Where will the course be run? The course will cost £750 including all course materials (or £600 with early booking discount). Full board on-site accommodation is available for a further £210 for six nights. |
