Conservation Assistant

The Conservation Assistant (CA) for The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota helps implement a comprehensive program to protect natural areas and habitats for plants, animals and natural communities.  The CA provides support for the day-to-day activities of the Conservancy’s habitat protection program in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota which includes negotiation, acquisition, and disposition of land and conservation easements, cooperative management agreements, public lands designation, and implementation of landscape level land protection plans.  The CA will support the work of the Director of Protection and Land Protection Specialists with a variety of transaction and grant related tasks as noted in the job duties below.  S/he will work very closely with the Director of Protection and Land Protection Specialists, at times at a very fast past, to facilitate conservation real estate transactions to protect critical natural areas.

The CA may travel around the state of Minnesota and selected locations in North Dakota and/or South Dakota. The office location is in the Minneapolis office of the Conservancy.  This position is not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  He/she is supervised by the Director of Protection, supervises no paid staff, and works with volunteers.

Travel requirements – less than 10% time. This is a part-time position that consists of about 17.5 hours/week.
