Groundwork London is one of the UK’s most exciting NGOs, working with a wide variety of partners to build sustainable communities where individuals and enterprise prosper.

We are seeking a knowledgeable Community Gardener to develop and deliver food growing and community gardening workshops that engage local residents, mainly in east and south London. Working with minimal supervision, you will take the initiative to support the establishment of new, and improve existing, community gardens and food growing areas as well as deliver stimulating workshops to encourage people to improve their waste and recycling behaviour.

With a relevant qualification or suitable experience in community gardening you will organise and run exciting activities including community engagement events as well as food preparation and cooking programmes. In this role, you will establish and publicise gardening clubs to enable participants to improve and maintain their existing gardening space.

You will have the ability to also support improvements to the physical and mental well being of beneficiaries through their taking part in activities and encouraging them to be active and participate in nature. An excellent communicator, you will engage with a range of audiences including residents and community groups, local authority officers and funding bodies.

You will use your experience of managing or facilitating volunteers to recruit and manage  volunteers and enable them to become valuable contributors to the Community team. 

You must be willing to work a significant amount of out of office hours at evenings and weekends.

Full clean driving license required.

This role is a full time (37.5 hours per week) fixed-term contract for 12 months.
