Description

Join our department Technical Risk Management consisting of committed engineers and technicians. We are part of a large engineering group of more than 300 engineers, working with over 10 offshore wind farm projects in the UK, Denmark, Germany and France. We cooperate closely with our colleagues across the organisation and participate in all project phases.

As Commissioning Supervisor you will be based at our site office in Barrow-in-Furness. The working pattern for this role is likely to be 7 days on 7 days off and will consist of a 12 hour working day.  

This is a project based role that will be based initially in Barrow-in-Furness for approximately six months.  It is expected that after six months, you will move to another of our projects which could be in either the UK, Germany or Denmark. 


Areas of responsibility

Your first assignment will be monitoring of completion and commissioning activities and conducting final inspections of wind turbines installed offshore at the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind farm in the Irish Sea.

Furthermore, your key duties will include:

  • monitor mechanical and electrical completion to oversee that the wind turbines are fit for grid connection
  • monitor the commissioning activities to oversee that the wind turbines are ready for reliability testing
  • participate in final inspections together with the wind turbine suppliers personnel to ensure that outstanding works and quality issues are detected and reported
  • visit offshore wind turbines after installation to observe any issues and report these accordingly.

 

Your profile

You will have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, or an equivalent technical background.  Furthermore, it is essential that you will have knowledge of quality control standards.  Ideally, you will be familiar with wind turbine components and you will have an up to date offshore survival qualification.  Additionally, you will ideally have completed Siemens Level 4 VB training. 

You will have prior experience of working in a quality control inspector role within a relevant industry or you will have previous experience as a wind turbine technician with some quality control experience.  You will have substantial experience of conducting visual based quality control inspections and you will have experience of quality control for electrical installations.  Furthermore, you will have experience of providing reports on quality control inspection findings and progress.  Additionally, you will ideally have previous experience working with wind turbine technology and components, particularly in a quality role and you will have previous experience in an offshore commissioning role. 

You will have knowledge of IT, including the Microsoft Office programs, for reporting from quality activities and non-conformity processing.  You will demonstrate good report writing skills and excellent communication skills and you will further demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.  In addition, you will be highly observant and perceptive to quality issues and you will be persistent and driven to ensure issues are resolved.
