Description

Job title: Commercial Manager
Location: Busan, South Korea
Working hours: 9:00am-6:00pm (40 hours per week)

Are you able to inspire brands and organisations to do their part to save our oceans? Can you speak in their business language using our inspirational, science voice? If so, you could be the perfect fit for the Marine Stewardship Council!

Who are we?

The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through our internationally recognised certification and ecolabeling program well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of our partners. Critically, other fisheries are incentivised to improve their performance to meet the growing demand for certified sustainable and traceable seafood choice. Over 400 fisheries around the world, representing 16% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and over 1200 documented improvements to the way our oceans are being fished have been recorded. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.

The MSC is looking for a Commercial Manager, who can lead on delivering the MSC’s over-arching aims and commercial objectives in South Korea.   You’ll be responsible for outreach along the supply chain with various market sectors, promoting the MSC’s ecolabel and increasing support for the program across a broad range of interest groups, including fisheries, government representatives, retailers, and partners in the NGO community.

You will also work closely with the MSC’s communications community in the region to conceive and deliver marketing programs and initiatives that stimulate market demand for the program.

Our program is growing. As more fisheries, retailers, and consumers commit to sustainable seafood, we’re evolving our commercial strategy to deliver our strategic plan from 2020 onwards.

Who are you?

You will have:

  • A post-graduate degree and relevant experience working with supply chains, the food or seafood business, fisheries or international business
  • A good understanding of the role of ecolabelling
  • A good understanding of sustainable development and related commercial and communications issues
  • Fluency in written and spoken Korean and English.
