Description

An interesting opportunity has come up in the North West Highlands for a tree nursery outreach officer. You will be working for Coigach-Assynt Living Landscape (CALL), an expanding partnership project with a 40 year vision.  CALL is working towards landscape-scale conservation management through habitat restoration, while striving to secure local jobs, culture and arts.

CALL has successfully raised funds to establish and run a new native tree nursery near Lochinver in Assynt, Sutherland.  Your job is to develop a programme of activities that will involve all sections of the local community in the CALL project and the work of the nursery, and so promote lifelong learning, health and wellbeing, and an appreciation and understanding of the CALL environment. You will also develop a team of volunteers for the nursery. You will work closely with the nursery manager to ensure the nursery is well run at all times.

The successful applicant will be employed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, one of the CALL partners, on behalf of the partnership.

To apply you must have the communication skills necessary to inspire a broad range of people as well as the flair and imagination to develop an interesting and successful outreach programme. In addition to this you will have strong organisational ability and the practical skills necessary to run a tree nursery.  Also important is a passion for native woodlands, the ability to work as part of a team, excellent communication skills, and a current UK driving licence.
