BIRDLIFE INTERNATIONAL Climate Change Policy Officer
BirdLife International is a global partnership of national conservation organisations present in 120 countries and territories. BirdLife works together as a partnership to conserve wild birds, their habitats and global diversity, by working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. BirdLife’s unique local-to-global approach enables us to deliver high impact and long term conservation for the benefit of nature and people. We are seeking to recruit a Climate Change Policy Officer, with a focus on climate change adaptation policy, to BirdLife International’s global policy team in Cambridge. This position represents an exciting opportunity to work with a range of key national and international actors to advance ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation. The post holder will work with the BirdLife Partnership to advocate for robust national adaptation policies within national and international fora, including the UNFCCC, that take account of the role of ecosystems in helping the vulnerable adapt to climate change. A particular focus will be managing a project with colleagues in East Africa, helping to build capacity, providing technical supervision and guidance on a range of issues including vulnerability assessment at case study sites, national climate change and landuse policies and plans, and facilitating meetings and workshops.
