Chief Program officer

Manage all operational aspects of VCS Program. Support and oversight of the registry system, validation/verification bodies, accreditation programs, the methodology approval process and stakeholder interaction. Lead and manage delivery of all strategic program initiatives, including work on the jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ framework and the continued evolution and expansion of the program scope. Lead and manage ongoing development of program infrastructure, including implementation of technical solutions to improve the efficiency and rigor of program operations. Promote the VCS among stakeholder audiences, through speaking engagements and authoring thought-leadership pieces in publications. Support the CEO and directors of other departments within the organization.

Requirements for the position: Bachelors degree, or a foreign equivalent, in Environmental Sciences plus 8 years of business experience, 2 of which include experience in carbon markets working for a carbon retailer or, in the alternative, a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Environmental Sciences plus 4 years of business experience, 2 of which must be in carbon markets working for a carbon retailer. Must also possess experience working with a variety of carbon standards, including the UNFCCC’s Clean Development Mechanism and voluntary market standards as well as in project management and team leading.
