SAVE THE RHINO TRUST announces the retirement of Rudi Loutit as CEO, after long years of dedicated service, and therefore seeks a new CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The successful candidate will be stationed in Swakopmund and be responsible for the following

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Working with and supporting the Field Directors to ensure the continued success of SRT’s core programmes
• Managing the efficient functioning of the support team including finance, administration, fundraising and communications
• Reviewing and update SRT’s strategic plan, currently on a 5-yearly cycle
• Helping shape, implement and expand SRT’s fundraising activities, in close conjunction with the newly appointed Fundraising Manager
• Ensuring a robust system of governance is continued and strengthened, maximising the effectiveness of the Board of Trustees
• Overseeing staffing matters, including contractual issues, performance management, appraisals and disciplinary proceedings.
• Efficient and timely budgeting and cashflow management.
• Maintaining dialogues with SRT’s key stakeholders, fostering close working relationships at all levels

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate should:

• Have at least 10 years’ experience working at a senior management level within a relevant discipline, be it business, commerce, conservation, government or NGO.  Experience of personnel management, budget control and teambuilding / motivation considered essential.
• Be passionate about conserving the environment, wildlife and ecology in general;
• Have a track record of successful engagement with business and public sector leaders;
• Have experience in dealing with the media, and in presenting to, engaging with and influencing people from diverse backgrounds and multiple stakeholder groups, particularly an ability to engage local communities
• Be able to react to rapidly changing events as part of a coordinated multi-party response
• Have an excellent command of English and preferably also have communication level skills in another European language such as French, German or Spanish, and Afrikaans.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and capacity to work flexibly in the context of a small and committed team of high international reputation, maintaining and growing SRT’s standing in the conservation community.

Preference will be given to Namibian Citizens, although suitably qualified candidates in possession of a Permanent Residence Permit will also be considered.
