 Job Description
 This position will support research in the area of geologic carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS; also known as carbon sequestration), will offer the candidate the opportunity to collaborate with world-class researchers, and to contribute to analyses provided to public and private sector decision makers who are actively studying carbon management issues and options. Research conducted in this area will focus on the deployment of CCS systems in the industrial and electric power generation sectors, both within the US and internationally. This work requires integration across a variety of technical disciplines including geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering, electric power generation, industrial processes, and economic analysis. Duties will include synthesis and analysis of complex datasets, methodology development, documentation, and publication of original research.
 Minimum Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelors degree with 0-1 years experience or a Masters degree is required. Expected to contribute professionally, applying basic theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies to well-defined assignments of limited scope. Performs basic science and engineering tasks and activities with minimal oversight. Works to broaden and deepen own technical knowledge and skills. Continues developing technical expertise and knowledge. Develops new skills. Contributes to technical decisions. Develops technical approach for assigned work.

S&E II Minimum Requirements 
A Bachelors degree with 2-3 years experience or a Masters degree with 0-2 years experience or a Ph.D. is required. Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies. Independently completes recurring assignments. Exercises limited judgment on work details. Makes preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives. Assumes technical responsibility for a well-defined task often involving more than one person. Recommends technical approach to solve problems subject to approval by senior staff.
 Qualifications
 The successful candidate will have a broad educational background, including college-level coursework in chemistry, physics and geology. Proficiency and strong analytical experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) software, particularly ESRI ArcView 9.x, is required. Experience working with complex datasets and databases is preferred, along with proficiency in Excel. Experience with statistical software packages (e.g., Maple) and/or Monte Carlo simulation (e.g., CrystalBall) is desirable, as is experience with VB or VBA programming languages. This position also expects strong communication skills with respect to communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. An interdisciplinary background that includes formal policy/economic and scientific/engineering training or experience is also desired.
