Capacity Development Programme Coordinator
• Location: preferably Cambridge, UK but appropriate locations with BirdLife Regional Secretariats may be considered (e.g. Nairobi; Singapore, Quito). The position will require approximately 30% international travel.
• Full time: 35 hours per week
• Contract duration: Three-year fixed-term contract with potential to extend, subject to funding availability

This is why a major emphasis of BirdLife’s work is on Capacity Development. Each of BirdLife’s programmes from science and policy to conservation action and others, has a capacity development component but we also have a dedicated capacity development programme.
The Opportunity
BirdLife International is looking to recruit a Capacity Development Programme Coordinator to lead this dynamic partnership programme.  Through this programme, BirdLife intends to strengthen the Partnership, and enhance how partners work together and with others The role of the Coordinator will be to lead strategic programme development and fundraising, ensure delivery of the Global Capacity Development Programme Plan ; lead and coordinate a multi-national global Capacity Development Programme Coordination Team (PCT), and promote collaboration, communications and sharing of experience and resources amongst BirdLife organisations especially across regions.
The Capacity Development Programme Coordinator will have a relevant degree or equivalent level qualification and an established track record of relevant experience in Capacity Development programme management.  The successful candidate will have significant hands-on training and strategic planning delivery experience and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of fundraising for capacity development. She/he will be an inspirational leader, have strong communication skills and significant experience of working successfully in multi-cultural, geographically dispersed teams. 
The ideal candidate will have:
• A University degree or equivalent in a relevant field
• Established track record in Capacity Development programme management
• Demonstrated experience with strategy development and implementation
• Demonstrated experience with successful fundraising and donor management
• Demonstrated experience with project and financial management, including budgeting, reporting and grant management
• Experience developing and securing partnerships
• Strong facilitation skills in international, multi-cultural settings
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and diplomatic skills with fluency in English (other relevant languages an advantage).
• Sound IT literacy in Word, Excel, Email, Internet, PowerPoint; and Social Media technology
• Ability to organise and manage own and other people’s time/priorities. 
• Ability to work with a high level of initiative and work well under pressure.  
• Commitment to conservation
• Ability to motivate and guide staff particularly in non-line-management relationship
• Effective at analysing complex environments and resolving problems with practical solutions.
• Entitlement to work in the UK or other BirdLife Regional Secretariat locations
