Overall Purpose of the Post of Business Energy Advisor
The post of Business Energy Advisor is key part of a team managing an innovative and dynamic 'Leading a Low Carbon Economy' Programme (Low Carbon Business Programme) The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by a range of delivery partners.
The aim of the programme is to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to reduce their carbon footprint and therefore increase their competitiveness. A co-ordinated programme of 1-to-1 support will be provided at an individual business level, including advice on business 'greening' such as how to use products and services more efficiently, identifying tailored carbon reduction solutions, and where appropriate, the programme can provide small capital grants for investment in carbon reduction processes and equipment.
The overall aim of the post of Business Energy Advisor is to lead on the delivery of the support & assessment stage relating to the 'Carbon Reduction Solutions'. The BEA will act as a consultant to businesses to create beneficial relationships, helping to identify ways to 'green' their businesses, save money on energy (and other resources, such as water) and deliver their low carbon ambitions. The successful post holders will work across the partnership and Thames Gateway South Essex region to deliver the programme's aims and objectives and to enhance the partnership's reputation for professional excellence in the area of low carbon economy, business engagement and business support.
About the Partnership
The Low Carbon Business Programme is managed by a partnership comprising of Essex County Council, Groundwork South Essex, Southend Borough Council, Basildon District Council, Rochford District Council, Castle Point District Council, Thurrock Council, Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Thurrock Local Enterprise Agency and National Industrial Symbiosis Programme. All activities under the programme are agreed by the Green Business Partnership Steering Group and managed by the Green Delivery Group.
Job Aim:
Working with fellow Business Energy Advisor to ensure the successful achievement of the outputs and desired impact of the TGSE Leading a Low Carbon Economy programme on behalf of the partnership. The position of Business Energy Advisor will specifically:
* Support small and medium sized businesses to reduce their carbon emissions through the provision of resource efficient/low carbon advice and basic environmental audits.
* Manage business relationships through the coordination of specialist environmental advice from a range of business support agencies.
* Provide businesses with 1-to-1 bespoke support in order to identify and implement beneficial policy changes and physical intervention to promote long term energy efficiency.
