We are pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Bushfire Program Coordinator, to coordinate and deliver the NCC Bushfire Program.
Commitment: Full time.The position will require occasional work after hours and or on weekends including travel to workshops throughout New South Wales.

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 pro rata plus superannuation
Reporting to: Healthy Ecosystem Program Manager, and liaise with the Hotspots Coordinator as necessary.
The Bushfire Program Coordinator plays a critical role in coordinating the development and delivery of NCC’s Bushfire Program in close consultation with the Healthy Ecosystem Program Manager and the NCC Bushfire Advisory Committee (BFAC). The duties are diverse, and will include the following key responsibilities:
- Ensure the NCC Bushfire Policy and all relevant program information is updated as appropriate
- Facilitate community workshops, seminars and conferences on issues relevant to ecologically sustainable bushfire management throughout NSW
- Participate in NSW Rural Fire Service program reviews and any other agency or stakeholder-led process as required, and update BFAC regarding issues arising in a timely manner
- Coordinate media and other public responses to bushfire as it relates to the environment, working with the NCC Media and Communications Officer
- Prepare grant applications for the Bushfire Program
- Prepare progress and evaluation reports for funding agencies
- Liaise with our Hotspots Fire Project to ensure both programs are complementary and coordinated
- Effectively oversee and support the Bushfire Management Committee representatives
- Support relevant bushfire knowledge exchange with the NCC Bushfire Advisory Committee.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must have a legal right to work in Australia. Applicants must address both the essential and desirable selection criteria in their application:
Essential
- Demonstrated knowledge of fire ecology and environmental issues related to bushfire management
- Demonstrated experience in project management including work planning, monitoring and evaluation, budget management and grant acquittal reporting
- Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in successful organisation of workshops or similar community events
- Strongly developed facilitation, networking and partnership capacity
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Commitment to nature conservation and the principles of ecological sustainability
- Recognition of and respect for Aboriginal culture
- Current drivers license
Desirable
- Postgraduate or undergraduate fire ecology studies or similar
- Understanding of the non-government sector
- Understanding of state and local political processes
- Experience in dealing with community members in rural and urban areas
- Experience or knowledge of fire fighting or planning
