Job Summary:

Our client, an award winning multi-disciplinary consultancy, is currently experiencing exciting growth of their workload and projects and is therefore looking for Ecologists (graduates, assistants and consultants) to support their teams across the country.

You will have the opportunity to get involved with projects across a variety of sectors, including property, energy and infrastructure. Your role will include surveying a range of protected species and getting involved in the writing of technical reports such as EIAs, due diligence studies and BREEAM assessments.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The successful ecologist will:

  • Work independently or as part of a team to conduct desktop and field studies
  • Undertake a variety of protected species surveys for inclusion in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters
  • Contribute to due diligence studies and BREEAM assessments
  • Assist the project manager with the coordination of surveys, preparation of proposals, monitoring of project finances and client liaison
  • The consultant ecologist will also be responsible for managing these tasks and more junior staff as required.

Qualifications / Experience:

The successful ecologist will have:

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of Phase 1 habitat, botanical and NVC surveys
  • Experience with protected species surveys
  • Excellent overall verbal and written communicative skills

It is advantageous for the consultant ecologist to also have:

  • A survey/ handling licence for a protected species
  • Some experience with BREEAM
  • Ability to coordinate surveys and communicate well with clients
