Assistant Hydrogeologist

Job Summary:

This leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for an Assistant Hydrogeologist to join their team in Bristol. As a fresh MSc graduate or hydrogeologist with up to 2 years’ experience in consultancy, you will join a dynamic and experienced hydrogeology team, providing support to the more senior staff.

This opportunity gives great scope for career progression and will allow you to work with a range of environmental specialists and engineers across the country, to deliver innovative solutions to clients including local authorities and private developers.  As part of your role you will undertake site visits as well as data analysis, modelling and interpretive reporting.

Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Hydrogeologist you will:

• Support the more senior members of staff on hydrogeological projects
• Undertake groundwater and gas monitoring and contractor supervision during ground investigations and test pumping
• Assess and manage water level and pump test data
• Compile desk studies and author interpretive reports

This role is extremely varied and you will get exposure to a range of project work including contaminated land, dewatering, groundwater control, groundwater flooding, geothermal heat, ground source heating, monitoring, modelling and even mine water treatment projects.  Given the nature of the role you will be encouraged to be creative with your solutions to clients and will also have the opportunity to contribute to research and development projects.

Qualifications:

As an Assistant Hydrogeologist you will have:

• MSc in Hydrogeology
• Good technical skills and theoretical knowledge e.g. data management / groundwater modelling / pumping test analysis
• Strong knowledge of hydrochemistry is desirable but not essential
• An interest in GIS or modelling would be beneficial
• Competent with MS Office suite programmes
• Good report writing skills
• Flexibility to undertake site work as required.
