The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and the Hudson River Estuary Program are seeking a Habitat Restoration Assistant to work at the Norrie Point Environmental Center. Will conduct a GIS inventory of candidate shoreline habitat enhancement sites in the Hudson River estuary at selected locations from the City of Troy, NY to the Tappan Zee Bridge. Will develop web-based restoration program information and communicate with private and municipal property owners about restoration projects. Assist in writing permit applications for proposed restoration sites. Work performed in both office and field settings.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, aquatic biology, ecological restoration, or related field. Six months of hands-on experience preferred with conducting ecological field surveys including collection of data on plant or animal species, water quality or other environmental data from either classroom or professional setting. Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and collection of field GIS data is desirable. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. This is a 12-month full-time position.
