Advisers or Senior Advisers - RMA Implementation Team (Sth)

We have three full-time, fixed term roles located in either our Wellington or Christchurch office.  The fixed terms will end on 30 June 2009.

Are you interested in working on major natural resource management issues? Diverse and interesting work in a range of areas is on offer at the Ministry for the Environment. 

The focus of the Local Government Group is to assist and work with local government to ensure a healthy environment.  This includes providing national direction and improving implementation of the RMA.

We now have some great opportunities for experienced and highly motivated people to join our group.  (See also vacancies 1119, 1120 and 1121 for further roles within this group.)

The focus of these roles is to share RMA best-practice with local authorities, RMA practitioners and government agencies around New Zealand.  To do this you’ll work in partnership with local government, RMA practitioners and professional bodies to develop and deliver RMA guidance material.  The roles also include assisting with RMA training resources and professional development programmes (such as the Making Good Decisions programme), workshops and seminars.  On a strategic level, you’ll advise Ministers and local government, and also research the implementation of the RMA. 

Experienced in dealing with local government, you’ve worked with the RMA for at least three years.  Coming from local or central government, or the private sector, you understand the practical results of policy implementation.
