The Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB) was established in 2003 by Münster Zoo and the Zoological Society for the Conservation of Species and Populations (ZGAP). It is the first nature conservation centre in Cambodia, located on 25 ha of land in the Phnom Kulen National Park, ca. 50 km north of Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor Wat. The goals of the ACCB are the rehabilitation of confiscated, mainly globally threatened wildlife and the conservation breeding of selected species, in combination with environmental education and capacity building for conservation and an expanding in-situ conservation and research programme.

The ACCB is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled person to support administration and communications as a volunteer. The assignment is expected to last 4-5 months and will be based at our site at Kbal Spean in Siem Reap province, Cambodia.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce stories, photographs and information for outreach

  • Write frequent updates to ACCB’s social media sites, such as Facebook

  • Assist with accounting and bookkeeping

  • Research local vendors to source products, based on the ACCB’s needs

  • Maintain files and records

  • Design flyers, graphics and other marketing material for ACCB

  • Provide administrative support as needed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Interest in wildlife conservation and the work of ACCB

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Some knowledge of and experience in Southeast Asia

  • Experience and confidence using social media sites

  • Competence using Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • Competence using graphics editing software, such as Photoshop

  • Some experience with budgets and accounting

  • Ability to quickly learn and absorb new skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Initiative and flexibility

This position is unpaid, however free shared accommodation will be provided along with a small stipend to help cover additional costs.
