The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, a fast growing public establishment for applied scientific research and technology transfer in Luxembourg, has an opening on a fixed-term contract for its internationally recognized ‘Environment and Agro-biotechnologies’ Department (EVA) for a a researcher in meteorology (m/f) Duties and responsibilities: We are looking for a researcher to work in the context of the applied science European Interreg IVB North-West Europe project. In this project named “Transnational Forestry Management Strategies in Response to Regional Climate Change Impacts” we provide regional climate change projections, hindcast high resolution atmospheric model runs and data processing / handling services for the integrated assessment research of the other project groups. Tasks include the handling of large datasets of existing projects, the development of data processing chains, data analysis and visualisation as well as dedicated RCM runs with the WRF model. Work is to be carried out mainly on our in-house small-scale HPC-system Linux cluster and compute servers using Fortran and Python programming languages and NetCDF data formats. Qualifications: The candidate should hold a Master degree or equivalent in either meteorology, geosciences, physics, mathematics, or a related field with a specialisation in atmospheric numerical modelling, downscaling (dynamical and statistical, weather generators) and bias correction techniques. The candidate has to be motivated and work independently, structured and self-responsible in a diversified environmental research department. English (scientific exchanges) is a prerequisite and knowledge of French (official language) is required. German will be considered an advantage.
