The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, a fast growing public establishment for applied scientific research and technology transfer in Luxembourg, has an opening on a fixed-term contract for its internationally recognized ‘Environment and Agro-biotechnologies’ Department (EVA) for a researcher in forest engineering (m/f) Duties and responsibilities: We are looking for a researcher to work in the frame of the European Interreg IVB North-West Europe project “Transnational Forestry Management Strategies in Response to Regional Climate Change Impacts”. The researcher will be involved in the development and implemention of tools for surveying the dynamics of trees and their pests in Luxembourg in the context of climate variability and/or change. Tasks include (1) the assessment of forest sensitivity and tree suitability to climate change through the measurement of tree growth, tree fitness, fructification, etc.; (2) the evaluation of possible forestry adaptation measures and the definition of recommendations for forest owners; (3) the implementation of a long-term program for monitoring pest dynamics in forests; (4) the development of pest management strategies in cooperation with the Forest Administration. Qualifications: The candidate should hold a Master degree or equivalent in forestry engineering. Experience in assessing the tree-pest dynamics, as well as an advanced knowledge in GIS, will be considered as assets for this position. The candidate has to be motivated and work independently, structured and self-responsible in a diversified environmental research department. English (scientific exchanges) is a prerequisite and knowledge of French (official language) is required. German will be considered as being an advantage.
