Fresh Energy is seeking one to two exceptional individuals to learn more about the workings of this dynamic nonprofit and work on a small suite of clean energy policy and administrative research and writing projects. This paid internship opportunity is for up to 25 hours per week for 10 weeks. A minimum of 15 hours per week is highly preferable. Since 1990, Fresh Energy has turned widely held economic and environmental ideals into smart energy policy. We have achieved real and measurable progress toward a strong, prosperous energy economy while playing a leading Midwestern role in our nation’s transition to highly efficient clean energy and transportation systems. Currently our efforts are concentrated in six key areas: retiring coal-burning power plants, improving our transportation system and built environment, increasing renewable energy and energy efficiency, expanding transmission for renewable energy, and regulating carbon pollution. Transforming vision into reality has been Fresh Energy’s business from day one. Under the supervision of our new managing director, the intern/s will develop a self-directed research and/or communications product in alignment with Fresh Energy policy priorities. In addition, duties will include general support and developmental activities common to learning about and contributing to the business setting of a nonprofit. Desired outcomes of internship: An opportunity to network with top clean energy policy advocates; a greater understanding of specific leading-edge approaches in the clean energy policy and regulatory space; increased insight into nonprofit management; improved writing and critical thinking skills.
