SMHI’s Research and Development department consists of around 80 employees who work with both internally and externally financed projects. The main purpose of our research and development projects is to develop and pass on new methods to SMHI’s operational divisions.
We offer a flexible working environment with a focus on personal responsibility and professional personal development. It is for this reason that SMHI has been awarded Sweden’s best employer three years in a row.
The unit for Hydrological Research works in Sweden, Europe and worldwide with developing forecast and scenario tools for water and waterborne nutrients, describing the hydrological consequences of climate change as well as developing better tools for modelling of water quality and nutrient transport in waterways.
Among other things, the work done here is used to improve forecasting for hydrological (flood) warning services and the hydropower industry and to make decisions regarding remedial measures to achieve good environmental status in rivers, lakes and the ocean.
We are now looking to employ 2 new hydrological scientists in permanent positions at our Norrköping office starting 1 September 2011 or earlier.

We are looking for goal oriented colleagues, passionate about their work, who can work both independently and with others.
