Description

SYNOPSIS:

SLR is an international environmental consultancy with almost 900 employees working from 63 offices in the Europe, North America, Australasia, and Africa. SLR is one of a very small number of truly international specialist environmental consultancies. It provides global advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing base of business, regulatory and governmental clients. Key areas of SLR’s business are the energy and mining sector where it is involved with both the oil and gas industry, renewable power including wind, energy from waste, hydropower and biomass, and advises mining companies and funding organisations throughout the world. SLR is also the leading consultant to the private sector waste management industry in the UK and undertakes a significant amount of planning and environmental impact assessment work for major commercial developers.

SLR is at the forefront of globally providing a wide range of technical and professional services to the energy sector. In hydrocarbons we support the upstream oil and gas sector both on and off shore, and are involved in a range of emerging sources including oil sands, shale gas, hydrates and coal-bed methane. Services offered include

  • ·         due diligence and the provision of services associated with divestiture or acquisition of portfolios;
  • ·         the preparation of environmental impact assessments and the provision of all of the necessary planning support;
  • ·         oil spill contingency planning, training and management of spill response;
  • ·         operations permitting and compliance;
  • ·         environmental monitoring and reporting
  • ·         geotechnical assessments and the management of any necessary site investigations;
  • ·         contamination assessment and remediation;

Increasingly, SLR is also being asked to support clients with the new permitting and environmental challenges associated with unconventional sources of oil and gas including oil sands, shale gas, hydrites and coal bed methane. Many of these assets lie in areas where there is no history of oil and gas exploitation, making permitting and environmental management both difficult and complex.

SLR is now looking for somebody to help further develop SLR’s oil and gas market in the UK and further afield.  We are particularly looking for candidates who could drive the development of areas such as pollution prevention, contingency planning and oil field regulatory services as well as onshore and offshore environmental impact assessments

Candidates who have due diligence experience in this sector would be particularly welcome.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing SLR’s oil and gas business sector in the UK although this role will also need to consider and develop global opportunities for business. There would also be the opportunity to develop and shape SLR’s global oil and gas and broader energy capability.

The role would be to facilitate, coordinate and develop the business sector, whilst also carrying out chargeable work within the field of their expertise. The position would report into the main SLR Consulting Board and it is expected that the candidate would significantly develop/influence the company’s UK and global oil and gas/energy strategy.
